A Way of Being - (the awareness of)
As a coach, I have gotten to be around some of the most successful athletes in the history of professional sports, specifically in baseball. If there is one thing in common with the most successful athletes I have witnessed, it is their way of being, their aura, their energy, the way they feel different than everyone else.
I resonate deeply with the fact that, even though we are all human beings here on earth, walking around in an amazing thing we call a body, we really are energy. And because of this you can “feel” a person's energy when they are around you. Each one of us is living inside a bubble of energy created by our own way of being.
When you think of the greats, such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Michael Phelps, Shohei Ohtani, Lewis Hamilton, Walter Payton, (the list goes on and on) there is a way of being about them. There is a story that goes something like, “I always knew I wanted to be great.” “I always knew I had the drive inside of me to be the best.” “I created a process as the years went by, a regiment, an approach, a way of being that got me to where I am today.”
The “Great Ones” have amassed their greatness over time, over countless experiences of testing, learning, discovering, identifying, being, doing, and then ultimately having the greatness they have always expected they would have. Almost as if their entire life was a foreshadowing of what they knew was to come.
I'm writing this because there is a way of being that currently resides in every one of us. Not one person in this world is without this way of being. It's just whether they know it or not. Whether they are conscious of it or not. Whether they choose to do something about it or not.
A way of being is an energy. It's a solid ball of energy floating inside and all around you made up of all the energy you have ever felt, explored, or experienced inside of your life. It is a living, breathing thing that leads us as we walk down the path of the journey in this lifetime.
We can recognize this energy by how we feel. We know this energy to be real because as emotionally sensitive, vibrational beings, we are able to sense and feel these emotions through our body.
This is a true gift and blessing in which we all have and can take part of. Our way of being is created by our choices, our decisions, the very way we look at our life, which then dictates how we feel about our life. The more we choose to be deliberate or take part in the choosing of how we want to feel, act, and be inside of our lives, then the more we get to be deliberate and shape our lives.
When we look at the greatest athletes of all time and we hear them speak of their journeys, it is quite obvious to see how they got there and how they created this greatness inside of their sport. You hear words such as dedication, discipline, focus, organization, system, process, and approach. Clear ways of being that form the energy and direction of their lives.
That is why I bring you this question; do YOU have a way of being? Do you KNOW your way of being?
It can be quite simple to understand the inner workings of our own lives, once we sit to reflect on something as simple as a way of being.
That is what I leave you with here; can you describe, reflect, acknowledge, own, create your own way of being? If you take the time to do this and live it to the best of your ability, each and every day, there's no difference between you and the ones we call the greatest of all time.
